On April 20, 2022, PACE Canada received Alberta Utilities Commision (AUC) power plant approval under proceeding 27178 under the Hydro and Electric Energy Act for Hanna Solar park. This joins Joffre and Youngstown projects that achieved this milestone in late 2021. PACE will be pushing on with financing and to enter construction before the end of 2022.

The Hanna solar power project is proposed for a site in Special Areas #3 on a reclaimed portion of the Westmoreland Sheerness Coal mine.

Development work on the 13 MWAC export facility began in 2019 supported by funding through the Town of HAnna MCCAC Community Generation and Capacity Building program. PACE worked collaboratively with the Town of Hanna, Special Areas Board and Westmoreland Coal to bring forth this community based project.

Alex Ross, Development Director for PACE Group said, ‘Following our recent announcement in PACE Canada LP to partner with Goldbeck Solar this builds on our portfolio we will be entering construction on in 2022. This brings our Alberta based ready to construct portfolio to over 70 MWp that soon will begin to make a material contribution to the Alberta clean energy market’.

‘This project was co-developed with our previous partner Switch and we would like to thank them for their part the progress on this project’.
